Common Back Pain Causes

So, what are some of the most common causes of back pain? While there are literally thousands of reasons why you might be experiencing back pain, some causes are more common than others. Here are the top causes of back pain that we generally see here at our clinic.

  • Pulled muscles
  • Muscle strains
  • Sprains
  • Herniated disks
  • Bulging disks
  • Pinched nerves
  • Whiplash
  • Improper posture

Even if things like pulled and strained muscles don't originate in the back, they can cause referred pain to the back. Again, with proper diagnosis of the cause of the back pain, the cause can be effectively treated, and the pain eliminated without surgery or drugs. And, the good news is that there are a number of extremely effective ways we can help you get rid of that back pain for good.

How Your Isanti Chiropractor Can Help Heal Your Back Pain

We use many different healing methods here at Isanti Family Chiropractic Clinic. The method we use on you all depends on the cause of the pain. In fact, some clients require two or more methods to effectively eliminate their back pain. Each client is an individual and is treated as such here.

Spinal Adjustments

As an example, if you have a pulled or strained muscle that is causing back pain, we can heal it with chiropractic adjustments and massage. Sometimes, we teach you how to do special exercises at home in between appointments to help strengthen muscles, to avoid them getting re-injured. We find that the combination of chiropractic adjustments and massage, sometimes with physical therapy exercises, is one of the best ways to heal back pain caused by pulled or strained muscles. Physical therapy exercises are a particularly effective addition when the cause for the pull or strain is poor posture. We can test and you to stand correctly again, and eliminate the back pain for good.

Spinal Decompression

If you have a herniated or bulging disk, chiropractic adjustments are definitely for you. These will gently ease the out of place disk back where it belongs. If it is a long-standing or more serious issue, we may do spinal decompression on you. This is a gentle and painless technique that stretches the spine over time to allow the errant disk to slip back into place on its own, and stay there.

Other causes of back pain, such as pinched nerves, whiplash, and more, are treated as best benefits you as an individual. This may mean massage, chiropractic adjustments, physical therapy, acupuncture, hot and cold therapy, lifestyle and nutrition advice, and other techniques. It all depends on your individual circumstances as our client.
